What is a watershed?
Think
of a funnel: all the water that falls anywhere inside, ends up at
the bottom. A watershed is the
land around a body of water where all rain, snowmelt and other water eventually
flows into a common water source – in our case, the Big
Sewickley Creek. The Big Sewickley Creek watershed, which drains into
a bigger watershed, the Ohio River, is made up of 10 townships/boroughs,
including both Allegheny & Beaver County.

Our Responsibility
As citizens, all of our actions — good or bad — impact our
watershed and its natural resources. It is each citizen’s
responsibility to preserve and improve watershed health. No matter
where you live, you are part of a watershed.
We have formed the Watershed Association for all those citizens
living and working within the Big Sewickley Creek Watershed who are concerned
with existing Big Sewickley Creek issues. Together we will analyze problems,
provide information, and search for solutions.
